Tlingit Homeland Energy
Tlingit Homeland Energy Limited (THEL), wholly owned by Taku River Tlingit First Nation, is continuing to study the hydroelectric development potential of Pine Creek, Atlin, BC. The Atlin Hydro Expansion Project would produce power for sale to Yukoners.
This small hydro project would provide a local, cost effective solution to the Yukon’s winter energy shortage by producing clean, renewable energy. It would also be a significant economic development opportunity for Yukoners, the Atlin community and the Taku River Tlingit First Nation. The concept we are studying would increase power production by 5 to 8.5 MW by expanding the existing powerplant on Pine Creek and building a second plant downstream, preventing 20,200 tonnes of CO²e/year, or 606,000 tonnes over 30 years.
