The operation of the magnetic separator is based on the principle of separation of the separated product by magnetic properties using an internal magnetic drum in a sector version. The magnetic system is located along the drum diameter at an angle of 180 °. The material to be processed is fed directly to the rotating drum. When exposed to a powerful magnetic field, ferromagnetic particles are attracted to the drum surface and are held there until the passage of the shell of the magnetic sector, then the magnetic field disappears and ferromagnetic particles fall apart from the main flow of material away from the flow.

Drum systems БСМ are usually used when there is a possibility of installing new equipment in an existing production line with minimal structural modifications, and are installed at the points of product transfer from one stage of transportation to another.
