Velvetol® is a family of high-performance polyether polyols based on renewable feedstock. Thanks to its outstanding characteristics, it can act as an ideal replacement for petroleum-based polyols. Velvetol® offers improved flexibility at low temperatures, without compromising functionality, while increasing the renewable content of your final products, providing easier handling and processing than common alternatives. Helping you and your customers to meet the increasing global need for more sustainable products, Velvetol® has a significantly lower environmental footprint compared to petrochemical alternatives such as poly-(tetramethylene-ether) glycol (PTMEG). Benefits: - 100% bio-based - Available in various molecular weights - High reactivity - Provides good hydrolysis resistance - Allows high abrasion resistance in final PU parts - Leads to high flexibility PU formulations, especially at low temperatures vs. PTMEG - Generates improved softness in PU formulations - Leads to improved overall toughness in PU parts - Lower viscosity and melting point vs. PTMEG lead to improved processing and handling In comparison to the production of petroleum-based PTMEG (evidenced by a peer-reviewed ISO 14000-compliant life cycle assessment), Velvetol® offers up to: - Up to 50% reduced global warming potential - Up to 33% reduced non-renewable energy consumption |
