Hypophosphorous acid is used as a bleaching or decolorizing agent for plastics, synthetic fibres, and chemicals and also as a colour stabilizer and decolourizing agent in the manufacture of several plastics and chemicals. In electroplating it is used as a wetting, emulsifying or dispersing agent. The substance is used as an acidifying compound, chemical reducer, anti-oxidant, catalyst, in synthesis and electroless nickel plating and as a polishing agent

Hypophosphorous acid 50% an ionic compound that can be synthesized by reacting boric acid Intermediates hydrofluoric acid Intermediates then adding additive hydroxide. The most general method to prepare hypophosphorous acid is by hydrolysis of dialkyl phosphonate to phosphonic acid with concentrated HCl solution.
