Vinyl acetate is a colorless liquid with a sweet etheric taste; slightly soluble in water, soluble in alcohol, acetone, benzene, chloroform. It can react with oxidants. It is highly susceptible to polymerization by heat, light or trace amounts of peroxides. Products containing inhibitors can also be violently polymerized in contact with peroxides. |
