Copper(II) sulfate, also known as cupric sulfate, or copper sulphate, is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula CuSO4(H2O)x. The x in the chemical formula can range from 0 to 5. The pentahydrate (x=5) is the most commonly encountered salt, and the most common form of copper sulfate. The compound is also identified by older names that include blue vitriol, bluestone, vitriol of copper, and Roman vitriol. |
