Aluminum sulfate is a water-soluble, odorless, white crystalline compound with the chemical formula Al2(SO4)3 and CAS 10043-01-3. It has a sweet, mildly astringent taste and is insoluble in ethanol. Aluminum sulfate may burn, but it will not ignite. Aluminum sulfate is manufactured by reacting freshly precipitated aluminum hydroxide with the appropriate quantity of sulfuric acid. The resulting solution is then evaporated and allowed to crystallize. It can be delivered as white, lustrous crystals, pieces, granules, or powder. |
