Ethyl cinnamate is the ester of cinnamic acid and ethanol. The p-methoxy derivative is reported to be a monoamine oxidase inhibitor. It can be synthesized by the esterification reaction involving ethanol and cinnamic acid in the presence of sulfuric acid. |
