Cyclohexanone is the organic compound with the formula (CH2)5CO. The molecule consists of six-carbon cyclic molecule with a ketone functional group. It belongs to an oxygen containing derivate of organic hydrocarbon, and is a kind of colorless or light yellow transparent liquid with soil smell. It is slightly soluble in water and soluble in organic solvents such as alcohols, ether, acetone etc. It smells like peppermint when it contains small amount of phenol. It appears light yellow in color when it contains some impurity, which is generated and shows its color as the storage time goes and has strong stink smell.
