Butyrate is a fatty acid that is fermented by anaerobes of dietary fiber, such as cellulose, in your colon, which can combine with sodium to form a salt called sodium butyrate. the natural function of butyrate in the colon is not fully understood, butyrate is a powerful antidote for ammonium and neurotoxin, which can promote the formation of friendly or symbiotic bacteria in the stomach and intestines.
