As a result of its solubility, potassium hydroxide can be found in disinfectants and cleaning products. As well as being commonly used in solutions for cuticle removal and as a precursor for many potassium compounds and soft soaps, potassium hydroxide can be used in the manufacture of biodiesel, alkaline batteries and deicer for runways. Interestingly, potassium hydroxide is also an E number with some approved uses in the food industry — as a thickener, stabilizer and pH control agent |
