It is used in the manufacturing of polyamide resins, a binder in flexographic printing, and thermoplastic polyamides as glossy varnishes. Diethylenetriamine (DETA) is used as a solvent and chemical intermediate to prepare asphalt, lubricant oil and fuel additives, fabric softeners, surfactants, corrosion inhibitors, and chelating agents

Diethylenetriamine (abbreviated Dien or DETA) and also known as 2,2’-Iminodi(ethylamine)[2]) is an organic compound with the formula HN(CH2CH2NH2)2. This colorless hygroscopic liquid is soluble in water and polar organic solvents, but not simple hydrocarbons.
