It is used to manufacture polymers, high-volume plasticizers, and alkyd resins. It is utilized as a reactant for unsaturated polyester resins and an initiator for polyurethane polyols. It is used as a raw material for laser printers, toner, and soaps and as a solvent for agricultural chemicals, aromatics extraction, printing inks, nitrocellulose, cellulose acetate, coatings, and lacquers. It is used as an additive in hair and skin care products, as a coupling agent in textile lubricants, and solvent in hydraulic fluids
